Aquamarine and Emerald belong to the same family, but they are surprisingly different. Both are a variety of beryl, but aquamarine is coloured by iron impurities, while emerald is coloured by trace amounts of chromium and vanadium.
Aquamarine is the official birthstone for those born in March. This stone that ranges from light to dark blue-green derives its name from a latin word that means seawater. In healing circles it is a stone of courage and mystics, excellent for meditation. Enhances clarity of mind: tranquilizing, uplifting, openness, creativity, communication, self-awareness & confidence. Stimulates, activates and cleanses the throat chakra. Aids creative self-expression. Releases anxiety, fear, and restlessness.
