Tea of the Month
Cherry Rose Rooibos Tea
| Country of Origin: |
South Africa |
| Cup Characteristics: |
Excellent combination of cherry, rose and rooibos. Sweet cherry notes tempered with hints of caramel. A clean finish. |
| Ingredients: |
Luxury rooibos, Rose petals, Blackberry leaves, Natural flavors.
|
If ever a tea was good for the soul, this is it. Why? Well, let’s examine the reasons. The blend is created using the all-natural flavors of rose and fresh cherries. Ok, roses…let’s see. Years ago, noted American botanist and scientist Luther Burbank was quoted as saying “Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful. They are sunshine, food and medicine to the soul.” Well, roses are perhaps the world’s best-loved flower so…it looks like we have our first soul-affirming reason. Next we have cherries. In China and Japan cherries are potent symbols of springtime and youth. As well, in English folk belief cherry trees are a symbol of luck. Lovers who meet for the first time under their branches are considered to be the luckiest lovers in the world. Hmm…spring…youth…luck…all good influences on the soul – looks like we have soul affirming-reason number two. (And, this is just the flavoring!)
Probably the most important reason that this tea is good for the soul is that fact that it is blended using a South African Rooibos. Rooibos, grown in the mountainous Cederberg district of South Africa is truly one of the most refreshing and life affirming beverages out there. Packed full of nutrients, you can literally feel the goodness filling your body. On top of all this goodness Cherry Rose Rooibos produces a deliciously light cup with sweet floral notes and mellow herbal undertones. Brew a pot today, find a friend to share it with and bask in about as much goodness as you can handle.
|
Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 teaspoon of rooibos for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the pot, cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes. Pour into your cup; add milk and sugar to taste.
Iced tea-brewing method (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 6 teaspoons of rooibos into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the Rooibos. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the Rooibos into the serving pitcher straining the leaves. Add ice and top-up with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.

Numerology
What is Numerology?
Like Astrology Numerology is truly a science of the ages. One of the first forms of Numerology can be traced back to ancient Greece. The great mathematician & philosopher Pythagoras discoverer of the now famous Pythagorean Theorem was impassioned with trying to understand the nature of the universe. Through numbers he began to see reoccurring geometric & numeric patterns throughout the natural world, he was one of the first people to begin to understand the nature of harmonics & vibration and through the use of numbers & mathematics was able to begin a working framework of a system that could begin to understand the frequencies and patterns of everything, thus the science and philosophy of numerology was born.
And so in a nutshell numerology is the philosophy, psychology and science of numbers. It can offer insights into psychological patterns, explore the realms of purpose & existence as well as offer a way to explore your potential and help you to solve certain problems or situations along life’s journey.

Don’t believe a word…
By Ma Ananda Sangavasini, Reiki Master & Intuitive Life Coach @ the Divine Mine
Usually I call it the “inner commentary”. Some people call it the “inner chatter”. I am referring to the never ending story line that goes on in the head. It is as if we are a character in a story and an unseen or unknown narrator comments on whatever we perceive. On everything we take in through the five senses, this commentator continues to judge and fill in what in the experience is right or wrong, what should or shouldn’t happen. Whether we want it or not, the inner commentator or the mind keeps doing this, non-stop. The comments are based on past experiences and conditioning, and what believes have been formed through that about truth. This is not necessarily bad – the mind is just doing what it is designed to do. Our task is to use it wisely instead of being enslaved by it. As Paramahamsa Nithyananda beautifully says: The mind and body are great servants, but not good leaders. So what we need to do to is to move beyond the mind, so it can become our servant instead of the leader.
Depending on the culture we grow up in, the comments of the inner narrator vary. You can imagine that what would be considered ‘right’ for one culture, the opposite could be true for another culture. For example, it might be the custom to sit on the floor to eat in one country, but it might be strange to do so in another. Based on what we know through our experience, we judge what is ‘weird’ and what is ‘normal’ and base our decisions on that.
The interesting thing is that we usually don’t second guess the comments of the narrator. We believe every word immediately, which then affects how we feel. In the long run, this even determines the quality of our life; how happy or unhappy we are and the intensity with which we experience life.
Scientific research has proven that about 95% of our thoughts are completely repetitive, and that 99% of these are usually negative. In other words, all day long we get bombarded with our own negative comments without us even knowing it. Quite often we might feel low but don’t know why. How can we break free from this?
There is a beautiful meditation technique that I would like to invite you to try out that has proven to be quiet powerful to me. It is very simple: For one day, or even one hour, do not believe your thoughts – not a single one. Just see what thoughts are there, but just don’t believe them. Try it out and see what happens. Have no expectation, just be curious about it. As soon as you put on expectations I can assure you, you will be disappointed. Just have fun with this, and see what happens!

Sun in Cancer 2010
By Carl Klimuk, Astrologer, Master Herbologist & Wholistic Practitioner @ the Divine Mine
Aries
This is a good month to invite your friends over. Don’t be surprised if you also get invited out to people’s homes more often or you attend more social or family related functions. This is also a good month for you to make some changes wherever something has become too stagnant. Clean out your closets (figuratively & literally!). Find the time to de-stress with your friends, or have a nice long walk or hike in nature.
Taurus
Find the time to artistically express yourself, especially your ideas. You may feel the need to sleep more, don’t fight it! Your dream state will be particularly active this month as well as your intuitive or psychic senses, so pay attention to those gut feelings! It’s a good month to learn & communicate, go escape in a good book or movie, or just get out and socialize! This is also a good time for charity work or selfless service, find out where you are needed most.
Gemini
Feeling foggy, light headed or absent minded this month? It’s because this is a month where you’re meant to take the time to reconnect with yourself. Make sure you’re getting your full 8 hours worth of sleep, meditate, take some long hot bubble baths, go for a massage or escape into something artistic. A good movie, listen and dance to the rhythms of your favorite music, paint, write, all forms of artistry that can help you get in touch with your spirit is favorable.
Cancer
Happy Birthday Cancer! For many this is a high energy month, you should feel strong and alive! The point of this month is to learn how not to overdo it! You may find yourself working hard & playing hard, which if left unchecked may lead to burnout or getting knocked off your feet by a cold or flu. Focus on activities, gifts, skills or talents that can enhance your confidence. Try not to take things too seriously, get in touch with your inner child. Don’t be afraid to take on a leadership role.
Leo
This is a good month to speak your mind! If you’ve been itching to be heard in any area of your life, now’s a good time to do so. You’re hungry for knowledge & information, so don’t be surprised if you’re drawn to surfing the net for longer periods this month, go to the bookstore or library & allow your mind to absorb. You may get bored easily this month, restless you will seek variety. You may find yourself multitasking & juggling, so make sure you prioritize!
Virgo
Express your artistic side this month. Many of you might be asking the questions: What am I doing with my life? Where do I need to go? What is my purpose? All very important questions, thus this is a time where you need to become more self aware, recognize your strengths and allow them to guide you to where you need to be. If these questions are getting a little too serious then find ways to lighten up & let go, sometimes there are no answers, just a need to accept & allow.
Libra
Your more creative than usual so don’t waste it! Don’t be afraid to express yourself, be heard & be seen. This is also a good time for a personal makeover, change your hairstyle, get some new clothes, or lose a few extra pounds if you have them! Find activities that enhance your confidence. This is also a good social period, so get out with your friends and do something fun. Many will also find themselves multitasking or busier than normal, remember all work & no play makes for a dull life!
Scorpio
This is a time of organization for you; alot of loose ends could get done this month. Many will be dealing with trying to fix up relationship issues around them. Don’t be surprised if family & friends need some help or come to you looking for some good advice. Your diplomacy skills may be put to the test. Spend some time tidying up your home, repair work is favored. Spend some time beautifying yourself or your environment.
Sagittarius
Put some effort into making changes in areas of your life that have become stagnant. Don’t be surprised if things don’t go according to plan this month. Be more consciously aware of where you have been procrastinating. If things seem a little stressful or challenging spend more time in nature to find balance. This could be a month of love for many singles, for those in relationships it’s a time to be more aware of your partners needs. Social events & gatherings are also favorable.
Capricorn
Time to budget that pocket book, financial matters are favored especially when it comes to organizing your accounts. Issues that you may have tried to “shove under the rug”, ignore or deny may come out, believe it or not this isn’t a bad thing it’s the universes way of reminding you that denial can be an unhealthy habit. Share more of your gifts, skills & talents with the world. Remember the more you help others the more likely they will help you if & when you need it as well.
Aquarius
Need a vacation? This is a good time to take one! The urge to escape, travel & roam free will be high, if you can’t find the time for a big trip or vacation take frequent “mini” vacations. They only need be a day or two but that’s ok. An escape into nature offers peace. Don’t get too caught up with details, step back & look at the big picture. Ideas & inventive creativity are high, a great time for brainstorming and breakthroughs. Set realistic goals for yourself, learn to be flexible & allow room for mistakes, which is after all one of the best ways to learn!
Pisces

This is to force you to become more inventive & innovative. Resourcefulness is key to growth & development. ARC Bodywork: A Return to Consciousness
“How does this part here,” he asked, hand upon my shoulder, “feel about that?” A strange question I thought, but not so strange as the fact that I could answer it. I was in the midst of an ARC Bodywork session and it seemed only natural that I let my body answer. “Uhhhh …” I sighed, sinking into the part, “it doesn’t like it.” My answer came as a shock and yet on a deep level, it felt true. My ARC practitioner had just asked my shoulder how it felt about a certain relationship I was in and my shoulder had exposed my deepest feelings – feelings of which I had not been fully aware. “What doesn’t it like about it?” he queried further. The answer was immediate: “it doesn’t like carrying the weight anymore.” No wonder I was experiencing chronic pain in my shoulder. I was involved in a relationship where I was not only being held responsible for all matters – financial and emotional – but where I was in denial about it. That is, most of me was in denial, my shoulder, it appears, was all too aware of what was happening. The session continued as my therapist facilitated dialogue between my shoulder and, well, me. By the end, I had a desire to approach the relationship in question differently – in a way that suited all my parts and a plan to carry it through. Several years later, I too became an ARC practitioner, working with the various interconnected parts of my clients (and the various parts of myself).
ARC is an acronym for A Return to Consciousness and in this name lies both the beauty and the effectiveness of ARC Bodywork. As Pietro Abela, the founder of this modality, states: “We cannot hold the conscious state every moment of every day: life is made to challenge us. ARC training provides the tools to ‘feel’ imbalance as it occurs and then, learn how to return, regain and hold full an expanded awareness.” Thus we learn to “return to consciousness.” What this means in terms of practicing ARC is that the practitioner is not only aware of the client’s state of balance but, first and foremost, their own. It perfectly embodies the maxim: healer heal thyself. Moreover, it does so with compassion, acknowledging that we are all on a journey of self discovery. We are not healers because we have “arrived”, we are healers because we are aware that we are still on the journey. Healing is about how we relate to, and express and communicate, the essence of who we are. Healing, in other words, is about the relationship we hold with our self and how that internal relationship presents itself to others.
ARC Bodywork is a form of healing that prioritizes relationships. It blends together practitioner mindfulness, energy balancing, and a type of body-based dialogue known as BodySpeak™, as a way of opening up communication pathways within the body. These pathways lie between the different emotional or feeling parts of us. For example, my shoulder, as I described earlier, held a part of me that was tired of the way I was living. However, I also had a part of me that was in denial of how this way of life was hurting me. My ARC practitioner facilitated dialogue by creating space for the two parts to communicate. ARC works with the concept that people manifest physical symptoms, such as aches, pains, disease and behaviors, as a reflection of their emotional organization – ways we learned to cope with stress, conflict and other interpersonal issues. If a person’s way of coping, for example, includes denial, over-functioning or anger, one could then say that their emotional organization is in need of better communication skills. This is true of any organization whether it be the United Nations, IBM or the Girl Scouts. Without open communication, relationships falter and the whole organization suffers. What is true of the external world is also true of that within. When internal communication breaks down or is based on faulty belief systems, we are more susceptible to aches, pains and diseases and our body suffers. When I stopped listening to the part of me that didn’t want to care take my partner anymore, my shoulder, where those feelings had embedded themselves, expressed itself in a way to make me listen.
