Book of the Month
The Shift: Taking Your Life from Ambition to Meaning
by Wayne Dyer
The Shift - a companion book to the movie of the same name - illustrates how and why to make the move from ambition to meaning. Such a shift eliminates our feelings of separateness, illuminates our spiritual connectedness, and involves moving from the ego-directed morning into the afternoon of life where everything is primarily influenced by purpose.
As we contemplate leaving the morning of our life, where ego has played a commanding role, and entering the afternoon (and evening), where meaning and purpose replace ambition and struggle, we may encounter unexpected occurrences that accompany this new direction. It's almost a universal law that we'll experience a fall of some kind. Yet these falls or low points provide the energy we need to move away from ego and into a life of meaning and purpose.
The Shift doesn't mean that we lose our drive and ambition; it signifies that we become ambitious about something new. We make a commitment to living a life based on experiencing meaning and feeling purposeful, rather than never-ending demands and false promises that are the trademark of the ego's agenda.
As Dr. Wayne W. Dyer so eloquently reveals in these pages, we all have the choice to shift our lives from ambition to meaning . . . and thereby complete our return to the Source that created us.
About the Author
Dr. Wayne W. Dyer is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. He is the author of more than 30 books, has created numerous audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows. Wayne holds a doctorate in educational counseling from Wayne State University and was an associate professor at St. John’s University in New York.

Tea of the Month
Rainbow Rooibos Herbal Tea
| Country of Origin: |
South Africa |
| Cup Characteristics: |
The flavor profile of this tea is a pot of gold. A terrific fruit medley with Amaretto notes. |
| Ingredients: |
Luxury rooibos, Red Thistle, Cornflower + Calendula petals, Natural flavors.
|
If you’ve ever read the poem “Who Has Seen the Wind” by British author Christina Georgina Rossetti you’ll understand the virtue of a question like, “who has tasted a rainbow?” Rosetti’s poem asks:
Who has seen the wind? Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling, the wind is passing through.
Inspired by this poem, we at Metropolitan Tea asked the other question mentioned above, namely “who has tasted a rainbow?” (Here we should explain that while the protagonist of Roestti’s poem clearly relates to the world through touch and sound, we tea-folk relate to the world primarily through our taste buds.) We came up with many different answers. The final, and most profound was this: It tastes like a mellow, herbaceous Cederberg Rooibos blended with a medley of fruit and balanced out with a touch of Amaretto. Simple…yet…so deep…you know? (For those of you who relate to world visually, rainbows should also have red thistle, cornflowers, and calendula for the colorful look.) So go ahead, ask and ye shall receive. Taste a rainbow today. Incidentally, rainbows are also caffeine free.
|
Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 teaspoon of rooibos for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the pot, cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes. Pour into your cup; add milk and sugar to taste.
Iced tea-brewing method (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 6 teaspoons of rooibos into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the Rooibos. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the Rooibos into the serving pitcher straining the leaves. Add ice and top-up with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.

Spotlight on Services:
Sonic Sound Massage
We offer healing sessions called Sonic Sound Massage through the use of a Neuro Acoustic (Sound) Table. This table is specifically designed to send low frequencies directly through the body. By doing this, different systems of the body are activated, creating a stimulation of the cells directly. This results in a cellular response creating healing on different levels: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
While on the Sound Table, stereo headphones are used to listen to the Therapeutic Resonance audio CD's. They produce the exact frequencies of brainwave patterns while you are on the Neuro Acoustic (Sound) Table.
" Since the human body is over 70% water and since sound travels five (5) times more efficiently through water than through air, sound frequency stimulation directly into the body is a highly efficient means for total body stimulation, especially at a cellular level ." - Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, Founder and Director of the Center for Neuroacoustic Research (CNR) at the California Institute for Human Science.
"Vibro acoustic tables can help reduce bloodpressure, heart rate and stress levels." CNN-Dec. 17 2004.

Gratitude as a Way of Living
By Susan Verhoogt, Reiki Master & Intuitive Life Coach @ the Divine Mine
You might have heard of the phrase: Gratitude is the greatest Attitude. t has been a part of many teachings, and being grateful is one of the core teachings of Swamiji Nithyananda. The LBE program I took is over now, it finished about 3 weeks ago, but the teachings continue as well as the practice of the teachings. Gratitude is one of the main practices I have continued to practice, and it has been absolutely amazing! No matter what the outer circumstance is, we can choose to be grateful and it changes everything. Through my own very recent experience, even a completely unexpected 12 hour lay over and sleeping in London Heathrow Airport due to the strike of airline personnel and missed connected flight because of the strike turned out to be an exciting and blissful, totally stress free adventure. Over and over again I experience first hand the blessings of being gratitude as a way of living, as a way of being. Not as something I do, but who I am.
We need to use the word “gratitude” to point to some experience or feeling. When we take the word away, what is left? The energy of gratitude. This energy is the core of our essence; that’s why it feels so good! So, by practicing being grateful is a way to directly experience our true being. How amazing is that? So simple!!!
When we take life for granted we become dull and bored. It seems like the more luxury we have, the more we become dissatisfied with what we have and the unhappiness, including taking everything for granted grows stronger without us being aware of it. Not only does this make us feel unhappy; taking things for granted is actually something that blocks the crown chakra. When we are in a space of gratitude all the time, it opens and energizes the crown chakra! Usually we need something to be grateful for - when something happens we feel grateful or ungrateful. When we use gratitude as a spiritual practice, which I think is one of the most powerful and beautiful spiritual practices, we change our life completely. Simply feel gratitude for no reason and whatever happens.
When we are continuously in a state of gratitude, life becomes so rich and exciting. We feel so energized and excited about life – everything seems so full of life and amazement. This is who we are and who we have always been! As always, I would like to invite you to try it out yourself and not to just take my word for it. Try it out and see what happens! Just because…why not? What do you have to loose?
Enjoy!!! And…welcome home!
Love and smiles,
Susan
Susan will be returning from India this month and will be teaching REIKI LEVEL ONE on Sunday, April 25th and a whole bunch more exciting events in May!

Life is for Living!
By Kristyne Dahl, Hypnotherapist & Spiritual Counselor @ the Divine Mine

As everyone knows life is not only busy but it moves at lightning speed. We all have our own responsibilities, family, work, friend’s, there’s little time for really living. Distractions bombard us constantly & it seems everywhere we look there are reminders of what we want but don’t have. This unfortunately is not living.
Did you know that in order to live your life fully, it’s imperative to disengage from the distractions that take you further away from what you desire. And these distractions are everywhere. Ideally one wants to redirect themselves away from the distractions by engaging in those things that bring you closer to your ultimate desires.
When you live your life for others, for things or situations you are missing the point to living. The idea of living is that we embrace all of the opportunities this universe has to offer us. When we are really living we celebrate all of the opportunities to grow.
Did you know that being present without resistance is a secret to really living?
Here’s some more secrets about really living:
When you are really living you understand that there are some things you can change and some things that are out of your control. And when you have chosen to participate in this life and really live you choose to release your claim on people, situations and “things”. You focus on your life, the present and what you would like to bring into your life. When you are really living you understand that it doesn’t matter what others think or say, it doesn’t matter what’s going on around you, and it doesn’t matter what you have or don’t have.
Think about it like this, when you are really living you are flexible, adaptable, and open. You release the rigidity of limited thinking. You in essence set yourself free of grouping, comparing or judging yourself and others. You release the need to resist and instead you embrace the opportunity to experience the miracle of every moment (meaning both the “perceived” good and bad).
Note - When it comes to the bad things in life by the way all you have to do is, become the observer and give yourself a chance to discover more about yourself without judgment.
Than celebrate your experiences equally. Celebrate all of your lessons and be grateful to make the most of each moment for no good reason other than it feels a whole lot more fulfilling than the alternative.
When you are really living your life you know what matters is that you live it! No-one else can do it for you. So be present, expect the ideal results, focus & consistently work toward what you want.
And if you feel like it’s time for you to start living your life and you want some help, join me and my guests for the Change Your Life workshop on April 5th at 6:30pm. This workshop is where you will learn the tools to change your life so you can engage in really living once and for all.

Don’t worry if you’re feeling somewhat antisocial, you need some time to yourself for self reflection & contemplation. Other’s however may find a good escape through their friends & may actually find this to be a very socially active month.

You will be asked to somehow take on a leadership role within groups, friends or organizations. Have confidence in your thoughts & ideas.
Cancer

Sagittarius
Changes to relationships & partnerships are a foot! This may simply mean a change of the usual routine, spice things up, try something new both in and out of the bedroom. For many this is a time for the relationship to move up to the next level, for others it can bring relationships to an end, and for singles maybe a new & exciting love opportunity!
Capricorn

Pisces
Take the lead and organize your friends or groups this month. This could also be a month where work related relationships might be a bit touchy so it’s best to not cross certain boundaries, keep things professional.
