The Age of Miracles: Embracing the New Midlife

by Marianne Williamson, January 2008

The need for change as we get older - an emotional pressure for one phase of our lives to transition into another - is a human phenomenon, neither male nor female. There simply comes a time in our lives- not fundamentally different from the way puberty separates childhood from adulthood - when it's time for one part of ourselves to die and for something new to be born.

The purpose of this book by best-selling author and lecturer Marianne Williamson is to psychologically and spiritually reframe this transition so that it leads to a wonderful sense of joy and awakening.

In our ability to rethink our lives lies our greatest power to change them. What we have called "middle age" need not be seen as a turning point toward death. It can be viewed as a magical turning point toward life as we've never known it, if we allow ourselves the power of an independent imagination - thought-forms that don't flow in a perfunctory manner from ancient assumptions merely handed down to us, but rather flower into new archetypal images of a humanity just getting started at 45 or 50.

What we've learned by that time, from both our failures as well as our successes, tends to have humbled us into purity. When we were young, we had energy but we were clueless about what to do with it. Today, we have less energy, perhaps, but we have far more understanding of what each breath of life is for. And now at last, we have a destiny to fulfill - not a destiny of a life that's simply over, but rather a destiny of a life that is finally truly lived.

Midlife is not a crisis; it's a time of rebirth. It's not a time to accept your death; it's a time to accept your life - and to finally, truly live it, as you and you alone know deep in your heart it was meant to be lived.

The Secret to Attracting Love

by Kelly Howell, 2008

Attract True Love Like a Magnet.

In order to attract your true love, you have to believe you are able to attract the right person into your life. True love comes to you, not by chance, but through who you are. Thoughts and feelings emit vibrations that literally act as magnets drawing in people and circumstances that resonate with what you think and feel about yourself.

Through the power of proven visualization and reprogramming techniques, you'll overcome inner obstacles to receiving love. As your heart opens to experience more joy and fulfillment, you'll exude a radiant energy field that attracts the love you desire.

"Kelly Howell's work is a powerful force for positive change. She has helped thousands of people to improve their lives, and even--realize their magnificence!"
Marc Allen - Author, The Greatest Secret of All

Earth Saving Tip of the Month

We find the majority of the Divine Mine customers are of like-minds when it comes to finding ways to leave only a beneficial mark on this earth. The book "365 Ways to Save the Earth" by Philippe Bourseiller offers fantastic ideas on how we can help save our Mother Earth. Each month we will share one of the tips from Philippe's book, you may already practice the tip offered, and for this we thank you, however, if the tip is a new idea for you, we encourage you to give it a try! "The lifetime of one human being is nothing on a geological scale, but the traces he leaves behind can be unbelievably destructive". - Philippe Bourseiller

Reduce the amount of water flowing into your toilet's tank.

By placing a bottle filled with sand in your toilet's tank you will reduce the volume of water used with each flush, saving the volume of the bottle each time you flush. Don't use a brick - pieces of decaying brick can get into the toilet's system and cause leaks. Better yet, replace your toilet with a low-flow toilet, wich can decrease water use to 1.6 gallons for every flush. (Excerpt from 365 Ways to Save the Earth by Philippe Bourseiller; page # January 7.)

Letting Go - The Road to Freedom

By Susan Verhoogt, Reiki Master & Intuitive Life Coach @ the Divine Mine

Letting go is a theme that keeps coming up in my life, through my own experiences and that of people around me. What does this mean - letting go? How do I do this? And why? You might have heard of Eckhart Tolle's new book "A New Earth" and the free e-class he's doing with Oprah. I find his book and the discussions on Oprah's show of incredible value that is much in line with what I've learned and realized through experiences like the Vipassana meditation. Eckhart explains that when we are present we experience life with awareness versus experiencing life fully through the egoic self. Although this truth is very valuable for you to know, being present is not something that can be understood through the logical mind; it is something that can only be realized on a deep level through experience. It is important to gain understanding, but you practicing being present is what will make a change in your life.

What does letting go mean? To me it means to let go of the egoic self, that is to say, to not identify with all the stories it has created around who we are and what the world is supposed to be like. In other words, to let go of control and surrender to let life unfold it the way it wants to, effortlessly. I believe that a lot of our suffering comes from the need to control life. We want to control what happens and when. And when it doesn't happen the way we expected it to happen, we start to worry and wonder what we are doing wrong. What I am exploring is to what extend I am trying to control life, and I have to say that it surprises me. When I'm in a traffic jam, when I'm in a line up at the super market and am in a hurry, even the way I'm doing the dishes. It all has to be "perfect" and has to fit the egoic's idea of how this all should happen. Wow! What an enormous amount of stress I put on my whole being, even my body tenses up. The following question arised: How can I let life support me if I am trying to control everything, wanting it to happen on my ego's terms? That way there is no room for unexpected oportunities, because if such an oportunity would come up the ego won't recognize it and will just see it as stressful, as a problem. There is a difference between achieving goals and setting intentions and trying to control life. I will talk about that topic in the next newsletter.

How can we let go? One major key is: breathe! Focus your full awareness on your breathing for a while until you feel relaxed. In daily life, see if you can recognize it when you are trying to control a situation or a person-but don't judge this. You might feel tension in your body, or you might get annoyed with a person or situation. These could be signs that the ego is trying to control. When this happens, smile (life is really not that serious) and take a deep breath. And that's all there is to it. Surrender to this moment. This will help you step into being present, aware of your beingness. This is the road to freedom.

I highly recommend Eckhart's book "A New Earth" to help you understand and assist you in the process.

Susan will be facilitating "Thoughts, Beliefs & Law of Attraction Workshop" on Monday, March 17th. Click here for more information.

Aries
March 20 - April 18, 2008

By Carl Klimuk, Astrologer, Master Herbologist & Wholistic Practitioner @ the Divine Mine

The ingress of the Sun into the sign of Aries signals the beginning of spring!

Generally, when the Sun (the central life force of our solar system) enters into a sign it affects every one of us in a similar way, after the self sacrificing sign of Pisces has passed and we were all meant to give more of ourselves to help others & the world in some way we are now meant to bring our focus back onto ourselves.

The time of Aries is a time when we are meant to "clean house" so to speak, an appropriate sign for spring cleaning Aries encourages us to get rid of things which no longer serve us & begin something new. Aries is a time to plan & begin new projects & undertakings. It is a sign of courage, leadership & initiative. We are encouraged under Aries to try something new, take a calculated risk, or simply take charge of a particular area of your life that has been neglected or that you may not have felt strong enough to tackle in the past. Aries ruled by Mars is after all the sign of the warrior, and Aries reminds us that there is nothing that we cannot confront when we approach challenges & fears with focus, determination and strength of will.

Aries does not know the meaning of the word defeat. So take a lesson from Aries, replace fear with confidence, replace "I can't" with "I can", and "I won't" with "I will".

Mars the ruler of Aries will be in the sign of Cancer this month, indicating that this will be a month that will bring back many peoples focus to their homes & families. This will be a month of nurturing, both others and to oneself. We are asked to find the appropriate balance this month between giving and receiving. This month may also be a month were many people will be dealing with security & insecurity related issues both internally and externally in their lives. Many will feel very warm, caring, nurturing and sociable while others may just want to disappear and escape from the world. This is a time when we are really supposed to be reminded of other people's feelings. Other people may simply find the need to renovate or redecorate their homes.

Aries governs over the area of health and wellness this month, so just a reminder to make sure you're getting enough sleep, taking your vitamins and exercising regularly. Because if you have been neglecting your body lately, this month your body may let you know! This is also a month to be creative and play more games. When was the last time you sat down to play a good board game with your family? Have you been working so hard that making time for fun has itself become work? Then this month take the time to play some sports, board games, paint, play some music, dance, anything that is fun and creative, do something that is enjoyable to you a little more often!

When we want to take a peak at what could be major issues in the outside world we must use what is called mundane Astrology and look at the houses in a chart for information. Mars the ruler of Aries will be in the 8th house region for our area indicating this could be a time of medical discoveries, dealing with taxes and debts, police may issue a greater number of tickets this month. Insurance related issues may make news. Toxins in the environment or in food may make headlines. Medicine, drugs, or health related issues may also make the spotlight.

Carl will be facilitating an Astrology workshop on Saturday, April 5th. Click here for more information.

The Past... A Life

By Leslie Martin, Reiki Master, RMT and Spiritual Medium @ The Divine Mine

"I have been in sorrow's kitchen and licked all the pots. Then I have stood on the peaky mountain wrapped in rainbows, with a harp and sword in my hand."
- Zora Neale Hurston

The past... a bleeding of the togetherness of All... a living of extremes. Sight unseen... the unconscious swelling, feeling deep holding, a haunting within, the darkness unclear, depths unexplored yet aware, emotion pulled, raw, unexpressed, exhausted. The clogged spirit gasps... life force drained... adrenal fatigue. Death near... still resisting, the next rebirth.

Memories distant, recurrent images... a forced drowning... lost in the water, escape to the depths. Recognition... the subconscious clearing, consciously acknowledging the past. Seeing, feeling, freeing what is... insights in loss, restriction, expression. A release, grieving in forgiveness, letting go, acceptance surrendered... let it be, change... It's Now... Life, Present in the Moment.

Jubilant exhilaration... the innocent purity of clear energy... the child running through the grass, the brilliant hot sun pouring love, play all around, inner peace, vitality, calm vibrancy... seeing truth, a light giving from within... joy... in being, true expression... embracing freedom, unattached happiness.

New life... Lessons learned, the path cleared, the day of emergence here.

I Love... in Love, Authenticity, Truth, Honesty, Liberation...

I Live.

"Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to "die before you die" --- and find that there is no death."
- Eckhart Tolle
